The journey of the gods demo features a smaller version of the tutorial level and the first boss fight. If it scratches your adventuring itch, the full game is available as well.
Space pirate trainer
Sometimes, an arena arcade to shoot down robots scratches a particular itch. Space pirate trainer lets players blast away enemies and rack up a high score, sweeping away enemies with dual weapons. Visually the game is a blast as well.
The music pumps the players along with some deep bass, which works well with the gameplay. Similar to SUPERHOT, it is a great game for short bursts of fun.

The full game balances between mini-games and a campaign. Together, they provide a fun little package for a quick dip. However, the quest tracking software is not as good as it should be, losing sight of the fists as they fly. This is a massive issue for those who like to do quick flurries.
The demo is also concise, with just one challenger available. Even for a demo, it feels stringent. But for a quick experience, creed: rise to glory is acceptable.

The classic genre of VR content is roller coasters, putting family members and friends for a ride so that they, hopefully, enjoy themselves. Epic roller coasters is the free game of its kind, letting people ride in fantastical locations as they soar up and down the tracks.
Remarkably it includes a multiplayer mode, where people can ride roller coasters together. But more interesting is the shooter mode, where people can hit targets as they ride along the journey.

What are the best free oculus quest games and demos?
This fully depends on what the player wants with their oculus quest. A fan of sports? Then sports scramble is a good bit of fun with friends. What about something more physical? Creed: rise to glory would scratch that particular itch. What about something more exploratory and expansive? Journey of the gods is practically designed for zelda fans. Sometimes, oculus will make deals with software as well, such as vader immortal in late 2019.
But ultimately, some people want to play ‘that’ demo, which brings out the headset. For that, beat saber is one of the best free oculus quest games at launch, at least as a demo. It ignited interest in the industry for excellent reasons, and it can bring joy to newcomers as well. Just make sure they’re wearing straps around their wrists so that controllers do not start flying everywhere.

Oculus quest – is it worth it?
I finally got my hands on the oculus quest back in may 2019. So, after using the headset for four months, I feel somewhat qualified to answer the question – oculus quest… is it worth it?
Firstly, let me say that oculus quest is my first VR headset. I have used other systems, but I have never owned a VR system before. I parted with £399 ($399) for the facebook developed unit. A price point which most people would consider a significant investment.
I’m will not diving into the tech behind the quest. You can find plenty of reviews which give you the full specs of the system. What I can tell you is the headset feels exceptionally well made and has survived four months with my 10-year-old!
WIRELESS GAMING
The main selling point behind the quest is the wireless nature of the device. It doesn’t require a tethered connection to a PC or console. For me, that’s a big plus, as I don’t own a PC. I suspect many people who are considering buying the quest fit into this category. It also means the quest is portable. Just grab the controllers and headset, and you can play almost anywhere.
Another plus for the quest is the quick set-up. Once unboxed, I was playing my first VR game within 10 minutes. You can connect to the quest with a smartphone app and stream the quest display straight to your phone, allowing others to see what you see. Not all games support this feature, but it’s surprisingly fun to watch friends playing VR games in this way.
QUEST GAMES
I think you’ll agree with me when I say that any gaming system is only as good as the games you can play on it. So how good are the oculus quest games? Well, I was very impressed in general. The VR headset cannot display the uber slick graphics that you’ll see on the xbox one or PS4. The graphics on the quest remind me of the classic titles from the nintendo gamecube. You get good looking graphics but not super smooth shading or texture that you’ll experience on a PC or console. Nevertheless, you’ll soon find it doesn’t affect the enjoyment of the gaming experience.
Currently, the games on the quest fall into a couple of categories. First up is shooter, games like GUN CLUB VR, ROBO RECALL and DEAD AND BURIED give players the chance to blast away in VR. The other popular genre is sports; the quest offers SPORTS SCRAMBLE, CREED and RACKET FURY, to name a few. The third genre is VR experience titles; these are not necessarily games. Instead, they provide an immersive experience. My favourites of this genre include RICHIE’S PLANK, EPIC ROLLER COASTER, JOB SIMULATOR and FIRST STEPS.
I have purchased around 20 games since owning the quest. The games I’ve played the most include GUN CLUB VR, END SPACE, RACKET FURY and BEAT SABER. I’m happy to report that there isn’t a game that I regret downloading. Outside of the games, the quest can also run netflix, facebook and youtube. One of the coolest apps is BIG SCREEN, a virtual cinema where you can enjoy movies with other quest users. BIG SCREEN also doubles as a chat room, and you can even create 3D drawings while watching movies.
A pleasant surprise with quest is the pricing of its games. The majority of titles can be purchased for £10 or less. When you compare that to the £50 for the latest XBOX one game ‘call of duty – modern warfare 2019’ oculus games look terrific value.
Although, it would be fair to say that quest games are not as in-depth as console or PC games. Personally, I prefer these casual style games. The quest headset is quick to start up, making it perfect for diving in and out of games when you get the chance.
IS THE QUEST WORTH IT?
I confidently say YES, the oculus quest is worth the price tag. But there’s a catch, I’ve found it tough to play longer than 45 minutes without getting a little motion sick. The strength of the effect depends on the type of game you’re playing. Generally, the move movement within a game, the more I feel queasy. So if you’re looking for a gaming system, you can play for hours at a time. You might be better off spending your money on a console or PC. Otherwise, dive into VR with the quest.
5 best free games for the oculus quest
VR headsets take the gaming experience to a different level of immersion. Despite the huge promise of this technology, VR headsets still haven’t it the mainstream. This is partly because VR gaming is still viewed as an expensive, yet inconvenient experience.
Oculus was (partially) able to address these issues with the release of the oculus quest: a wireless, self-contained VR headset that does not need to be hooked up to a gaming PC or any third-party accessory. If you’d like to test what the oculus quest can do without having to spend unnecessarily, then the good news is that you can download free games for this excellent VR headset.
What is the oculus quest?
Despite being a household name in the field of VR headsets, oculus proved that they remain very much invested in developing new and innovative products when they released the oculus quest a few months ago. The quest is a fully standalone VR headset that comes with its own graphical processor.
Since the quest does not need to be tethered to a gaming PC (like the oculus rift), it is an excellent VR headset for taking the VR gaming experience on the go. It is also the perfect headset for those who don’t currently own a high-end gaming PC. In any case, it’s a far more accessible VR headset that should attract newbies to VR gaming.
Oculus has to make a few concessions to achieve the wireless characteristic of the oculus quest. In terms of content, the library of VR games and experiences available to the oculus quest is much smaller compared to those for the oculus rift headsets. This is because a lot of the games had to be graphically downgraded to make them suitable for the limited hardware of the oculus quest.
Why just five?
It certainly seems uncharacteristic for us to come up with such a short list, especially for an article that focuses on games made for the oculus quest. While the selection of games for the quest is much smaller compared to the PC-based oculus rift store, the android-based marketplace still contains some of the best titles to have ever been developed for VR headsets.
The bad news and the reason why we’re only doing a top five is that there are currently only five free games for the oculus quest. You can also download free demos for a few paid games, but we’re not counting those for the list.
Are there going to be more free games for the oculus quest? We can’t say for sure, but the quest has only been around for a couple of months so there’s certainly still a lot of time for the marketplace to expand. As the market for standalone VR headsets becomes even more competitive, we expect oculus to develop more free games to entice more new users.
The top 5 best free oculus quest games
1. Rec room
Less a game than a social VR platform, rec room allows you to interact with thousands of other VR users. Through the hundreds of rooms in the rec room platform, you can spend hours with friends playing games such as dodgeball, laser tag, paintball – even a pirate ship coop quest! It’s also a great place to meet new people. In fact, we’ve heard of lots of accounts of people making new friends through rec room.
If you’re not in the mood for games, then rec room also gives you the tools to create stuff with your friends. You can work cooperatively to come up with 3D sketches or models either for fun or for more “serious” applications. Of course, you also have the option of simply hanging around with your pals in the limitless 3D space that rec room offers.
Rec room is also a great place for coming up with your own content. Users can create their own rooms and design their own VR games or experiences. Making it even more fun is its cross-platform compatibility. This means that you get to interact with users of all oculus devices – from the rift to the go and the quest.
We can’t think of a better means of demonstrating how fun VR interaction is than with rec room. Even when you’ve managed to build a collection of VR games, you’re bound to pop in every now and then in rec room and play some simple games with your friends.
2. Pokerstars VR
Online poker games are a dime and dozen, but how about one that takes place in a VR environment? Better yet, a game that you can download for free?
Pokerstars VR puts you on a virtual poker table, playing with real opponents from around the world. While you won’t be able to read the facial tells of the other players, you will be able to chat with them in real-time to more easily gauge if they are bluffing.
Pokerstars VR introduces a lot of elements that make this particular online poker experience fresh. You can design your own avatar, although you will inevitably have sunglasses on. You can also customize the environment where you play: from a standard casino room in macau to a futuristic space station where you can watch magical creatures lounging around.
You can also summon interactive props to your table to annoy your opponents or to simply pass the time while waiting for your turn.
Our most favorite part of pokerstars VR is how satisfying it feels whenever you throw down your chips and cards to the table. With a realistic physics engine, the cards and chips act a lot like how they would in the real world.
Online poker is addictive enough on its own, and adding a VR element to this experience can make it even better. It’s also free, so there’s no reason why you wouldn’t want this game in the regular rotation of your oculus quest.
3. Bait!
Fishing is a great way to relax and release some stress, but a busy lifestyle also means that finding the time to drive down to your local lake and set up your fishing gear can be hard to come by. Luckily, you can go fishing anytime with your oculus quest, and you won’t even need to spend a dime for this totally free-to-play game.
Bait! Is an arcade-style fishing game where your character is tasked with looking for a rare fish in the hopes of saving a struggling aquarium in your island town. The fishing mechanics are addictive enough on their own – you cast your line by making a throwing gesture with the controllers, move the line around, and use a ‘reeling in’ motion to secure your catch. The game has four different lakes, each with its set of unique fish. Fair warning: it’s going to be easy to find yourself addicted to catching as many types of fish as possible once you get started.
Excellent fishing mechanics aside, the game also features a gripping storyline and a couple of colorful characters who you’ll get to know as you move around the game’s island setting. The environments aren’t exactly realistic but are rather fittingly cartoonish and stylish. This isn’t a knock on the game, as it helps create a more relaxing and laid-back mood.
All in all, bait! Is a great VR game for those nights when you just want to kick back and play a game with no complex or difficult mechanics. As horribly cliched as it sounds, bait! Reels you in with its relaxing environments and addictive collection mechanics.
4. Bogo
If you’ve got kids around the house, then a VR game that requires a lot of hand-eye coordination will probably be too difficult for them. You need a game that’s just simple and fun, which is exactly how we would describe the VR pet simulation game, bogo.
As a side note, adults might not be able to appreciate how fun bogo is. It’s nothing more than a virtual pet simulation – basically tamagotchi on VR. There’s no real storyline, no complex challenges or puzzles, and no other character other than the alien-like create you need to take care of. If you’re an adult, you’re not likely to get more than 10 or 15 minutes of fun out of bogo.
However, bogo is extremely fun and engaging for kids. In fact, this game can keep them entertained for several hours on end. They can feed their pets, play games with them, pet them, and watch them grow right in front of their eyes. It’s all very simple and really highlights how easily kids can be amused by activities that adults tend to take for granted.
5. Within
VR technology has the potential to change the cinematic viewing experience forever by letting the viewers feel like they are viewing the movie from inside. From the unique perspective that VR headsets can offer, viewers have the option of viewing cinematic content from different angles, making each viewing performance unique. You’ve probably seen some of these 360 videos floating around on youtube and facebook.
The within app for the oculus quest isn’t exactly a game, so we’re kind of cheating by including this in the list. However, it’s such a highly recommended free app for the oculus quest that we just have to mention it.
Within is basically a hub that provides access to dozens of free VR videos. From music videos, documentaries, animated shorts, and horror films, within is a convenient gateway that connects you to a large library of free and curated VR content. Some of these videos are award-winning, which makes it a pleasant surprise that you can watch them for free from your oculus quest.
Streaming VR videos can be very bandwidth-intensive, so we really like how within provides you the option of downloading them so you can watch them seamlessly. It would be much better if you can pre-download for viewing later, though, which is a feedback echoed by a lot of quest users.
If you’ve got a hankering for popular VR movies like lego batman, inside the sound, or crow, then within is the best way for you to enjoy them.

Ever been a fan of the legend of zelda? Imagine that, but with VR and in first-person. Quest around an area deflecting monsters, swinging sorts, and collecting upgrades for your character. Wander around, kill enemies with sword and arrows, and level up your character. The game even features some puzzles to solve as well.
The journey of the gods demo features a smaller version of the tutorial level and the first boss fight. If it scratches your adventuring itch, the full game is available as well.
Space pirate trainer
Sometimes, an arena arcade to shoot down robots scratches a particular itch. Space pirate trainer lets players blast away enemies and rack up a high score, sweeping away enemies with dual weapons. Visually the game is a blast as well.
The music pumps the players along with some deep bass, which works well with the gameplay. Similar to SUPERHOT, it is a great game for short bursts of fun.
The demo is just the first wave and boss, though it provides enough of an experience for an informed purchase decision. Space pirate trainer is a blast.

Bait!
Bait! Is one of the few free games on the oculus quest. Players sit back and relax, reeling in new fish across four lakes to save a local aquarium. Quiet and wholesome, anyone of any age can play the title.
With some minor paid elements, the game is great to pick up and play.

Poker VR
Feel like dealing some cards and winning on the table? Poker VR gives players the opportunity to play the classic card game against people online. Adopt your avatar, put on your face, and start dealing.
The game also offers online tournaments, for anyone who wants to set up a competition and climb to the top.
Poker VR is not for everyone; as it is simulated gambling, this game is not for children. But for adults too far from the local casino, check out the oculus quest game.

Creed: rise to glory
Feel like punching some people in the ring? Uppercutting through foes as you fling fists to save your skin? Creed: rise to glory pits people in an arena and lets them roll through several rounds, until hopefully becoming the winner.
The full game balances between mini-games and a campaign. Together, they provide a fun little package for a quick dip. However, the quest tracking software is not as good as it should be, losing sight of the fists as they fly. This is a massive issue for those who like to do quick flurries.
The demo is also concise, with just one challenger available. Even for a demo, it feels stringent. But for a quick experience, creed: rise to glory is acceptable.

Epic roller coasters
The classic genre of VR content is roller coasters, putting family members and friends for a ride so that they, hopefully, enjoy themselves. Epic roller coasters is the free game of its kind, letting people ride in fantastical locations as they soar up and down the tracks.
Remarkably it includes a multiplayer mode, where people can ride roller coasters together. But more interesting is the shooter mode, where people can hit targets as they ride along the journey.
Fun and free, epic roller coasters is best for children and thrill-seeking adults.

For fans of realistic sports games, this one is not for you. Sports scramble embraces the weirdness of mixing equipment to make unique experiences. Want to bat away footballs? Why not. Mix up bowling, tennis, and baseball to your specifications, and let it fly.

From games and demos, to a powerful film. Traveling while black is a VR experience on the oculus quest, created by academy award winner roger ross williams. The immersive film guides the user through the dark history of black americans, and their fight for greater movement.
The film explores the way people talk about race in the united states, from the language people use to the way they are treated. Learn from the past, and build on it; that is the key message portrayed by the actors on screen.
While different from the other free experiences on the oculus quest, traveling while black provides a compelling way to show the power immersive film can have.

What are the best free oculus quest games and demos?
This fully depends on what the player wants with their oculus quest. A fan of sports? Then sports scramble is a good bit of fun with friends. What about something more physical? Creed: rise to glory would scratch that particular itch. What about something more exploratory and expansive? Journey of the gods is practically designed for zelda fans. Sometimes, oculus will make deals with software as well, such as vader immortal in late 2019.
But ultimately, some people want to play ‘that’ demo, which brings out the headset. For that, beat saber is one of the best free oculus quest games at launch, at least as a demo. Ha, well I just included in-app purchases because they are completely optional, and already exist in the casino games that are out now: pokervr and pokerstars.
Of course, I would expect that each user starts with a set amount (5k, 10k, 20k) and if you lose all of it, they auto-refill your chips back to $1000 FOR FREE but limit you to once every 24 hours, like the other games do as well. Will edit my original post.
Poker video games are fun because there is skill involved and you are not playing against the house, you are playing against people. Black jack and other card games less so, but its still a skill.
All other casino video games are not fun long term since you are playing against the house, there is little skill involved and you do not win anything. 90% of reason they are fun in RL is you can win money. The other 10% is atmosphere. Computer casino games (sans poker/black jack) do not give you much of either.
There is arguably skill in blackjack, and I just think the throwing of the dice would be fun in craps. I see your argument, but there are TONS of free apps on mobile devices that are for craps, slots, etc.. And they have millions of downloads. I think it would still be fun to gather around a craps table with 6-10 people and all cheer/yell/etc for the shooter.
I would vote for your game idea but not the pricing model. Either you pay the app or pay per use (=pay for chips), but not both.
Well, in my model, I would foresee the game being free with in-app purchases being available but in no way necessary to play. In my head, I see it as you download the game, start with 10k chips, and if you lose all 10k, you can re-up for free with $1000 in chips and can only do that once per 24 hours.
The other option would be to make the game paid, but still offer this in case people were stupid rich and wanted to buy 1,000,000 chips for $99.. Either way, the casual player would NEVER be buying chips, nor have to at any point.

The team at against gravity are always updating too, so there’s typically always a fresh co-op quest to conquer.

Synopsis: echo VR first started out on the oculus store as echo arena, a futuristic team sport that features a unique zero-G multiplayer matches. Echo combat pits you against another team in either payload mode or point capture. Sony is definitely on the higher end of the VR spectrum, but PC VR is still in a league of its own. When its cost prohibitive and millions of people already own a PS4, of course PSVR will outsell. PC VR is more for the enthusiasts when it comes to this 1st generation
Sold way more ya. ‘best games’ is highly subjective. ‘clear leader’ in what? Hardware sold?The motion controls that also lack analog sticks is really what makes PSVR subpar to me. Specs are the lowest, but as you would expect. The PS4 just isn’t powerful enough. The games all probably compare to the quest. Maybe we’ll see some side by side vids soon. Sure PSVR has some good exclusive titles, but man the hit you take everywhere else makes me wonder how they even sold the 4 million. PSVR2 should be worth a shit though.

You’re joking, right? Most of PSVR’s content is either 3rd party or timed exclusive. Did you really fall for the symphony music, fireworks and the marketing cut scenes at E3 or sony’s reveal event?
Does PSVR have minecraft VR? Google earth VR? Mods with skyrim VR? Vrchat? Fallout 4 VR, “with mods”? The lab? Talos principle? Robo recall. The list goes on for hundreds of quality games and experiences. But hey, I guess PC-VR users can’t zoom in to nami’s breasts in one piece VR, right?
The only thing PSVR really has is a marketing/timed exclusivity budget to try to trick people into thinking something that sucks in comparison to it’s competition doesn’t. And that’s just software, much less it’s vastly inferior hardware which we needn’t go into detail here.
I’m not saying that, “on it’s own”, PSVR is bad of course. I’m actually quite amazed they could make VR so entry level and cheap while remaining functional on such outdated hardware. I genuinely believe it’s good enough to at least sell the concept of VR to consumers that they’ll likely buy a superior VR product in the future, but basing your entire reality on what gets a glorified music video at E3 and then pretending nothing else exists is ridiculous.
And btw, I know it’s been mentioned by other people, but still, this is just a list of free games. Wanna name me a few good free PSVR games? Don’t bother, I’ve already looked.

Actually two of the minigames on sony’s “VR worlds” disk were very impressive, namely london heist and scavenger’s odyssey. They were AAA quality, made by sony’s studio. Playroom VR was another really amazing experience, full of single player and same-room multiplayer games. If you live alone, it might be less compelling.
It’s not like there is nothing on the most widely used VR headset on the market today. Sony has over double the install base of oculus. Actually, PSVR’s install base is almost as larger as all of their competitors combined.

Truly virtual casinos
For some time now, developers have been working on gambling games that could work with the hardware contained in these headsets. One of the most prominent examples is riftsino, an app that allows you to walk around a casino rendered entirely in 3D. Early versions of this program include blackjack and slots, with players able to use hand, finger, and arm movements to control their play
But while that might have been a nice first step, there was one thing missing from this app: real money play. Thankfully, operators of online gambling sites have begun to see the promise in VR technology and have started to develop their own apps that can be used with the oculus rift, a move that aims to give players a much more immersive internet gaming experience than was ever before possible.
The first company to do so was slotsmillion, which launched their app in october 2015. At launch, this version of their software came with a total of 40 slot machines, including some by microgaming and netent. The titles on offer include the following, among others:

But the slotsmillion VR “resort” is more about the kind of experience you can get by taking advantage of this technology than the games themselves. It’s essentially like walking around in a real-world gaming floor – only you can do it right from your home.
The actual gameplay for all of the machines is essentially identical to what you would see if you played at a more traditional online gambling site. However, there’s some extra immersion thrown in, as you’ll be “sitting” at a machine in the simulated world.
