Play platoon, there is a FAQ up for it already, but this strategy is way better.
It's the 20 strategy, and here's how it works (generally)
Step 1) pair your wizards with any bishops, or your lowest numbered cards. Keep your bishops and kings solo if you have no wizards.
Step 2) combine any 10s you have in 2's to make 20, or if not enough 10s use 9s and 8s to make 19 or 18, but try for 20 if at all possible.
Step 3) combine any 3 cards to make as close to 20 as possible.
Step 4) if you have leftover cards, use them to make a "spoiler" deck on the left.
Step 5) pick your two card twenty deck to win.
Step 6) if opponent picks one of yours to win, try to avoid using it.
Step 7) here's the secret to winning at platoon. The opponent will have any kings/bishops/wizards on the left side guaranteed! If she uses her 2nd card to fight you, and it is made up of number cards, then every card to the right of it will just be numbered cards! To start your turn, use your 2 card twenty deck against their farthest left 2 card deck, and it will be a guaranteed victory. If they have a 3, 4, or 5 card deck towards the right side, use your king or wizard/bishop combo to beat it. If the opponent ruined your plans by starting first and beating one of your twenty decks with a king or something, use the spoiler card to face one of their far left decks, which may be a bishop or king/wizard combo.
Using this strategy, I won the cap amount of chips in just under two hours. You will win between 500,000 and 1.5 million chips per game if you manage to have your pick win and hers lose most of the time.
Sorry if it's a bit confusing, but I'll answer any questions people have. I have tested this theory about a hundred times and it still holds up so good luck!

This rank is the first one and rightfully so, it's fairly easy. You'll want to tackle the foes that have damage-all tricks like the ruff in the first round and the dinoceros in the final round. Most of the enemies are weak to fire so if you have fire-based weapons or attacks you should utilize them here.

You'll want to pace yourself in this round. Try to minimize the amount of MP you are consuming in the first and second rounds. They aren't that difficult, so just remember to focus your attacks on one enemy at a time. The shellraiser in the final round is resistant to physical attacks so strike with spells and tricks to deal the most damage. If you have to, set your tactics for swaine and esther to "don't do anything" to conserve your MP in the first two rounds.

Much like the previous rank, you'll want to do some pacing if you aren't at a very high level. You'll want to target the duncecap in the first group because it has the ability to heal. The same thing applies to the sea naiad in the second party but you'll want to focus on the sprout sprite because it can put the whole party to sleep then the sea naiad. The beam-man in the final can cast bolt from the blue, a deadly attack that you should defend, and he can also cause confusion. Counter him with storm-based damage and avoid using physical too much as he takes 60% reduced physical damage.

The first round involves the heavy hitting sasquash team. Earsplitter is a cause for concern because all three can use it, you can stun or put this group to sleep to make things a little easier but it might be best to launch an all out attack. During the second round you'll want to target down the lightshade to quickly eliminate it and then the sunshade. They have the lowest HP and should go down in a few hard hits. For the final round, unleash all your MP with water-based attacked to quickly extinguish the firefry then focus on the magmadame. Be sure to defend against palava and you'll be just fine.

This first round you should take out the rabbot and jackrabbot quickly to make it a 3 v 1 fight as soon as possible. The second round involves taking out the big daddy before it unleashes bolt of the blue so burn through his HP as fast as you can. The relixx should come next because it will drop quickly. In the third round focus on the grimpaler and the gobforsaken to mitigate taking too much physical damage. The smoggy fug is slow moving and you can get away from it while you focus on the other two. In the final round, you need to take down the honky-tonker or face mass confusion. Afterwards, take out the naiad because it can heal. Lay it all on the table because it's the last round and certainly isn't easy.

The first round is one of the tougher ones because of darkness beckons which can one-shot someone. Use oliver's nix spell to keep their spells away and quickly pounce on the wispula and kill-o'-the-wisp. The bone brigadier has no weakness but will go down easy in the 3 v1, use fire for the other two. In the second round focus down captain whamtastic then on don key. It's more of a breather here in this round to prepare for the final two rounds. The magimech clearly is the most destructive enemy in this group. Take out the paladin partridge and then the medixx while watching out for the magimech's ray gun. You will have to heal here but as long as you can keep your MP high you'll get through the fourth round in good shape.
The final round will be gruelling but if you have any MP left use it all on the mite and the drongo. A strong physical attacker can single target the drongo and take it out in a single hit (an evolved dinoceros for instance). This battle isn't the hardest of the rounds but it's the one that you will have trouble with because you've used all your MP prior to this fight.

After you finish the storyline at tombstone trail, the casino will open. It's to the right, right as you enter the dungeon, and you can't miss it. You'll need to buy all 4 tickets (costs 75,000 coins in total) for the trophy. You can either wait until you have the 500k guilders trophy and just buy the required amount of coins (total cost 375,000G at 5G per coin, and you can trade 5,000G at a time), or you can attempt to get them yourself via gambling. If you do plan to gamble, the best way to do it is to play the slots. You'll need about 3-5k coins to start. Start playing at 10 coins per spin, and keep going until you have time slow items that add up to level 3 or higher (lvl 1 x 1 + lvl 2 x1, or lvl 3 x1, or whatnot), and an item that gets you into bonus mode. Set it to play for 90 coins per spin, activate everything, and aim to get a 777 jackpot on the slots. With level 3 time slow, this will be very easy, and will net you 18,000 coins. You should be able to get at least 2 jackpots per set of items.
Sidenote: the A rank prize items will unlock later in the story.
I'm not going to set foot into that casino until I get the guildering the lily trophy. Or at least reasonably close to getting it. I don't trust my gambling skills either.

if you wait until you have around 200,000 gold (near the end of the game), you can create a new save file, sell all your equipment and items, and then buy a bunch of chips. You need about 350,000 gold to buy the chips needed to get this trophy. And voila, easy trophy!
You can easily win chips playing platoon by simply knowing that the cps always puts all the regular cards on the right and the figure cars (king, bishop, wizard) on the left.
To win at roulette you just need to use three level 1 or a level 1 and a level two slowdown power-ups (they stack) to easily get two or three 777s in a row. You can also double your winning by doing this in the x2 score mode when all the lights on top of the machine are lit up. This is more time consuming than playing platoon, however.
Save this trophy for last. I've already platinumed the game, and by the time you're done with some of the other trophies like the one AFTER "alchemizing 10 different items", you should have more than enough.Throughout the whole game, I amasses roughly 800,000 guilders, and about half of that came from the post-game section.
I got about 250,000 coins by playing platoon for about 10 minutes. It's really not that hard.
you need 375'000 guilders: change all of them into chips and buy all 4 tickets. If you don't have enough money, sell all your inventory stuff. After you got the trophy press start, then triangle button and leave the game without saving. That's it.
I made over 800,000 chips from one game of platoon. All you have to do is like #6 said. Remember that the CPU will put special cards on the left and number cards on the right. If a deck of only number cards appears all the way on the left the EVERY deck to the right will be number cards.
Also, ALWAYS use the winnings from the last round as your next bet and remember to not let the dealer take half your winnings (if she flags one of your decks as a winning deck) for the MAXIMUM winnings!

This whole post is a pretty big exploit/spoiler. Possibly the largest in the game. Read at your own risk, greed will overcome your restraint.
Go over to the lady dealer and start playing a game of platoon. The game is easy but has a learning curve. So you'll need to learn the game mechanics to increase the success rate. If you havent, play a few hands and come back.
With the hand you're dealt, put kings alone, bishops alone, and either a bishop or your lowest card with a wizard. With the rest of your cards, try to get them as close to equaling 20 as possible (I try to make sure I have at least one 20, 19 or 18 is ok though. But increases your loss chance.)
Choose your 20 to win, if she chooses one of your cards to win - dodge using it at all costs unless you push a loss with it. Take your 20 pair and play against her right-most group for an auto-win (you also get half of your stake back). If you see she has more than two cards in the row, you may want to pick the second-most right pair. Just make sure you get that free win.
I've noticed that her kings, bishops, and wizards are always on the left side of her pairs. Always. If it's an alone card on the left, it's most likely a king (use a bishop against him if you have one). Regardless, after that first win, try to beat out the right side of her hands - if you have to choose a left pair, make your best judgement given how many cards are there to what you use against it.
Basically, you can play again with your previous stake up to 6 times. If you win all six, the highest cash payout I received was
800k. With this, you can get gear OR get free potions I know we all desperately want. This DOES break the game's mechanics since it betrays the way they made the game. You can also sell potions for 6k each, thus being able to afford anything in the world.
Enjoy. I suggest not abusing until you finish the campaign.
