THE DEAL | CASINO

Each player is dealt four cards from the dealer with four cards face-up in the center. The deal is traditionally done two at a time, two cards to each player, two cards to the table, and two cards to the dealer. Remaining cards are set aside. After each player has played their four cards they are dealt four more from the remaining cards pile. After the first deal, no more cards are dealt to the table. This continues until all 52 cards have been played. THE PLAY

The player to the left of the dealer begins and play moves clockwise. On their turn, each player must play one card from their hand by placing it face-up on the table. This card can be used to capture 1+ cards from the table. Even if there is or is not a capture, play passes on.

• In the event of a capture, after other players have seen the capturing card, the player collects the captured card with the capturing card and places them in a pile face-down.


• If there is no capture the card remains face-up on the table.

• Capture with a face card, if you play a face card (king, queen, jack) that is the same rank as one on the table, you may capture a face card on the table. If there are multiple matching cards on the table you may only capture one.


• Capture with a number card, if you play a numerical card (A and 2-10) you may capture any number cards of equal face value. You can also capture any sets of cards whose sum totals the value of the card played, under these restrictions:
  
  
  • Cards within a build (see below) can only be captured by a card whose value is equal to the value claimed for that build.
  
  
  • If you capture a set, each individual card may only be counted as being within that set.
  
  
  
  

Example: A 6 is played, you can capture one, two, or three 6s. You can also capture two 3s and three 2s.

• Form a build/building, number cards can be combined with other cards on the table if placed together. This is forming a build. They are made of a collection of number cards which are captured by a single number card according to the previous rule. Whoever is making the build must announce to the other players the value of the capturing card. For example, “building six.” players must have the number card which can be used later to make the capture. There are two kinds of builds:
  
  
  • Single builds have 2+ cards whose face value add up to the value of the build.
  
  
  • Multiple builds have 2+ cards or sets, each set must equal the value of the build. For example, an 8 build may bee constructed with an eight, an ace and a seven, 2 fours, or a five and a three. Builds must include the card you just played and may not consist only of cards on the table. Builds can only be captured as an entire unit and never cards individually.

• Capture a build with a number cards whose value equals the capture card of the build. If during your turn there is a build which you have made and/or added to, which no other player has added to since your last turn, you may not simply trail (see below) a card. You must either: capture a card, create a new build, or add to an existing build. Whatever you choose to play, you may not capture or add to builds if it will leave you without the card which is equal to the build. If you decide to capture a build you also have the opportunity to capture single number cards on the table which equal or add up to the value of the build.


• Add to a build in one of two ways:
  
  
  • Use a card from your hand to add to a single build. This increases the value of the capture for that build, provided, of course, you also hold the card in your hand which is equal to the new capturing value. You can also add cards from the table to this build if they are legal. Cards from the table, however, cannot change the value of the build. Capturing numbers of multiple builds cannot be changed.   • If a player holds a card which could capture a build, single or multiple, they may add cards from their hand or a combination of a card from their hand and cards on the table, as long as they are not already in the build.
  
  
  
  

Example: there is a building on the table with a two and a three, announced as “building 5.” if you have a three and an eight in your hand you may add the three to that building and announce, “building 8.” another player may have an ace and a nine, they can then add the ace to the building and announce, “building 9.”

When adding to a build you must use one card from your hand.

• Trailing a card is an option if you do not wish to build or capture. The single card is put face-up beside the layout to be played upon later in the game. Play moves on. You may trail a card even if that card could have made a capture.

SCORING

Scores are tallied from the pile of cards each player or team has won.

• Most cards = 3 points


• Most spades = 1 point


• Ace = 1 point


• 10 of diamonds (also called the good ten or big casino) = 2 points


• 2 of spades (also called the good two or little casino) = 1 point

In the event of a tie for either most cards or spades, neither player earns those points. The first player to reach 21+ points is the winner. If there is a tie you must play another round.

VARIATION

Royal casino

Regular casino rules apply but face cards have extra numerical values: jacks = 11, queens = 12, and kings = 13. An ace = 1 or 14.

It is tempting in royal casino to hold the aces for longer so that you may make a 14 build.

Royal casino is also played with the variant sweeps. This happens when one player takes all the cards from the table and the next player must trail. If a sweep is made, the capture card is put face-up on the pile of cards they have won. Each sweep is worth 1 point.

Blackjack is a deceptively simple game played with one, two, four, six, or eight decks of cards. In multi-deck games, the cards are dealt out of a tray-like box that is called a shoe. Some casinos feature a shoe that shuffles as well as holds the cards.

Basic play

The play is the same for both handheld and facedown games. The objective is always to beat the dealer, which means getting to—or as close as possible to—a total point score of 21. Card values

Unlike in poker, the suits of the cards have no effect on the game. Only their numerical value comes into play in blackjack. Cards 2–10 are counted at face value—in other words, a two of hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs always equals two points, and so on up the ladder to the 10. All face cards—king, queen, jack—have a value of 10. An ace can count as either one or eleven.

In the play, a queen and a five would equal 15, but an ace and a five would total either 6 or 16. A hand that does not have an ace is referred to as a hard hand because it has only one value. A hand that contains an ace is referred to as a soft hand because the value can change. If you draw to a soft hand and the three cards total a number where counting an ace as 11 puts you over 21, then the hand becomes a hard hand. For example, say you are dealt an ace and a three. Your hand is either a 4 or 14. If you then draw a 10, you now have a hard 14 because if you count the ace as 11 you would have 25, which would bust you.

Table play

Blackjack is dealt on a special table that is semi-circular in shape. There is a separate circle or square for each player. When you sit down you must buy chips from the dealer or bring them from another table. You then put your bet in the betting circle in front of your space. Only chips put in the betting circle count as your bet. After all bets are made, the play begins.

For this example, we will assume you are playing a multi-deck game and the cards are being dealt from a shoe. Each player is dealt two cards face up. The dealer receives one card face up and one card face down, known as the hole card. After the cards are dealt, the dealer will ask each player in turn to make their decision. The player to the left of the dealer acts first. This position is known as first base. The position of the last person to act is called third base. You will make your decision about how to play your hand based on the dealer's up card and the two cards that you were dealt. A rule of thumb for the beginner is to assume the dealer has a ten in the hole. (this is not always the case, but it makes it easier to place your bets by making this assumption.)

Using hand signals

Remember that in a game dealt from a shoe you are not allowed to touch the cards. And in all cases, you should use hand signals to make your decisions known. This not only keeps the game moving it also helps prevent verbal misunderstandings while letting the eye in the sky keep track of the play. These signals are as follows:

• Hit — to take a hit means that you want to draw another card. To signal the dealer for a hit you tap the table in front of you or make a beckoning motion with your hand. If you wish another card after the first you motion in the same manner.


• Stand – once you are satisfied with your cards, you signal the dealer that you wish to stand (not receive any additional cards). You do this by waving your hand over the top of your cards.


• Double down – when you double down you are allowed to double your bet after receiving your first two cards. You then receive one card only on your hand. Most casinos will allow you to double down on any two cards (DOA). Some casinos limit your doubling to hands that total 10 or 11. DOA is a favorable rule to the player. To signal that you are doubling down you will place an additional bet next to your original bet. Most casinos will let you double down for less than your original bet, provided it meets the table minimum. This is foolish. You only double in favorable situations, and it is to your advantage to double for the maximum.


• Split a pair – if you are dealt a pair (two cards of the same rank) you can split these into two separate hands. At which point you must make an additional bet equal to your starting bet. You signal the dealer that you are splitting by placing your second bet next to your first bet in the betting circle. Do not put this bet on top of the original bet. Do not separate the cards. The dealer will do this for you. Neither will you play each hand one at a time. The dealer will give you a second card to go with the first split card. You will then decide to hit or stand. After you play out this hand and stand, you will move on to the next split card and the process will be repeated. Some casinos will allow you to double down on your first two cards after splitting. You would play this as you would if you were doubling down on your first two cards. This rule is favorable to the player.

Achieving a blackjack

If you or the dealer is dealt an ace and a 10-value card you have 21 known as a blackjack. This is a natural. If you get the blackjack you will be paid 3-to-2 for your bet, provided the dealer does not get a 21 at the same time. If you and the dealer have blackjack, that's called a push and your bet is returned to you. If only the dealer has blackjack, all players will lose.

Insurance

If the dealer's up card is an ace, the dealer will offer something called insurance. This is a side bet that you make by wagering half your original bet that the dealer has a 10 in the hole. If you make the bet and the dealer has the 10, you are paid 2-to-1. You would then lose your original bet, but win the insurance bet, which works out to be a push of your original bet. If you have a blackjack and the dealer has an ace, you will be asked if you would like even money for your blackjack instead of 3-to-2. If you do not take the even money, you will have a push if the dealer has a blackjack. Both the insurance and the even money bet are sucker bets. The dealers will NOT have 10 more times than they will have one.

Surrender

Some casinos will allow you to surrender your hand and give up half your bet on your first two cards after the dealer checks for a blackjack. This is known as late surrender. This option is not offered in all casinos, though. It is to the player's advantage when played correctly. Unfortunately, when it is offered many players surrender more hands than they should, thus giving up the advantage gained by this option.

A simple strategy

As you can see, there are many decisions that you must make when playing blackjack. If you play your hand properly you can reduce the house edge to less than 1 percent. To do this you must learn basic strategy, which is a mathematically proven method to determine when to hit and stand.

Here is a simple strategy to get you started:

• If your first cards total 12–16 you have a "stiff" hand (one that can be busted with a hit).


• If the dealer's up card is a 2–6, it is a "stiff" hand for the dealer.


• If you have 17 or better it is a pat hand, and you stand.


• If the dealer shows a 7–ace, he or she has a pat hand.


• If you and the dealer both have a stiff hand, you STAND.


• If you have a stiff hand and the dealer has a pat hand you HIT.

Although this simple strategy will get you by the first several times you play the game, you really should make the effort to learn even more basic strategy. How do you win?

Gaining access to the GTA online casino

Like most dlcs since further adventures in finance and felony, to actually access the new content you'll need to make an initial investment of sorts. Previously, this involved buying specific properties like offices or bunkers, but you can't buy the diamond this time around, no matter how many shark cards you've splurged on. Instead, players must buy memberships which give them access to the gambling opportunities at the casino.

Standard diamond memberships don't cost too much, but they also come with limited perks - you can only access the casino portion of the diamond and even then, not all gambling activities. You will gain access to the diamond's garage though, allowing you to store one car.

Instead, to access the resort, the high-limit tables and more, you'll need a VIP membership, which is significantly more expensive.

This membership nets you a fancy penthouse which you can customize to your heart's desire, including with a personal spa, partying area, roof garden access, exquisite artworks and more. You'll also have the opportunity to try your luck as a real high-roller at the high-limit tables in the casino, and insert coins again and again at the retro arcade.

The main attraction of getting a VIP membership, however, is gaining access to missions.

Missions

Two kinds of missions will become available to you once you have a VIP membership. Co-op missions follow a loose storyline involving a hostile texan oil magnate trying to encroach upon tao cheng's business. Cheng, the owner of the diamond, looks to his illustrious and infamous clientele to protect his business interests.

There are a total of six co-op missions, all of which pay out extra rewards the first time you complete them. The standard payout for completing a mission is GTA$ 11,000 - 15,000 depending on the time it takes, however you get an additional GTA$ 50,000 the first time you finish each one, which doubles up to GTA$ 100,000 on the last one.

If you host the co-op lobby and manage to complete all six missions in order, in one sitting, you'll get an exclusive "hidden" vehicle. The enus armored paragon car is spawned at the docks if you are eligible, and cannot be acquired in any other way.

There is another bonus payout of GTA$ 500,000 if you manage to play through the six missions in order the first time you play them. If you play the missions but don't finish them in order, you won't have another chance to try for this bonus,В ever. This adds on top of the other first-time completion bonuses, and the bonus GTA$ 50,000 gained from every mission completed without a death.

Note that co-op missions cannot be played solo. There is also no way to ensure that you are the host of the given session - it's a gamble!

In addition, to be able to progress within the co-op missions, the host must elect to do so. So unless you are hosting yourself, or get lucky with a competent host, you might be stuck repeating the same mission. Currently, there is no easy workaround for this.

You can keep retrying when joining missions to see if you get lucky by being the host. Keep in mind that to get the host bonuses, you need to play through all six missions as host. If you've been playing through them but only host the last one, for example, you don't get the enus armored paragon.

The other kind of missions are casino work missions, accessible by calling agatha baker. These are less lucrative than the co-op missions and lack the overarching storyline, but can be completed quicker and alone.

Services

Once you become a member of the diamond by purchasing a penthouse, you can call agatha baker for one of three things. These services are entirely free of charge. These are not available if you have a wanted level.

Car service

You can call ms. Baker to request a vehicle to be spawned. The options are limited, with the cognoscenti cabrio, the windsor, the fugitive, the super diamond, the dubsta, and the feltzer - the fastest among the choices - being available. You don't need to own any of these vehicles to be able to order one.

The spawned car cannot be placed into a garage or insured and the game does not consider them personal or pegasus vehicles giving them a new marker. The cars aren't stock, but carry certain upgrades such as bulletproof tires and performance upgrades.

Note that the cars are set to public access, so any other player can enter and steal the car if you're not careful. The vehicle will spawn right next to your character when called. If you enter a building interior the ordered car will automatically despawn. There is a 2-minute cooldown for using this service starting after the vehicle is spawned.

Limousine service

The limo service works in a very similar manner as the taxi service, but as mentioned previously, is free for penthouse owners. When called, the limo will spawn right beside the player and can be either white or black. When you sit in, the limo will automatically drive towards the diamond, but you can also set a waypoint and it will drive you there.

The limo driver will not be intimidated by attacks or weapon use and will only exit the limo if it flips over. This feature makes the limo a perfect getaway vehicle if you need to escape from cops, enemies or other players. You can kill the driver and take the car, but it cannot be stored or tracked, and doing so will yield a wanted level.

You can give the driver various instructions, such as to speed up, slow down, or to stop entirely.

Casino work

You can also request additional missions from agatha baker, as mentioned above in the missions section. These missions can be completed alone and take anywhere between 2 to 15 minutes to complete depending on which variant you get. You cannot choose the mission type, as that is randomly assigned.

The reward for successfully completing a mission is 5,000 chips and GTA$ 5,000-10,000 depending on time taken. There are at least 14 confirmed mission variants. These jobs have a hidden 3 minute cooldown and the locations are randomized. Completing 50 casino work missions will grant you a bonus of GTA$ 180,000.

1. Safe bet - escort a security van to the diamond from a random point on the map while defending it from waves of enemy attackers driving kurumas and bikes.


2. Bargaining chips - search through 5 zones each with a suspect for a thief who stole chips from the diamond. The thief NPC cannot be locked on, but does not escape due to weapons fire. The thief can be killed, which will give you a wanted level, or pressured into returning the chips. This can be the longest mission depending on how many areas you need to search before finding the thief, so it may not be worth doing.


3. When the chips are down - go to the mission area, clear out hostiles, use the provided sticky bombs to destroy supplies.


4. Undisclosed cargo - take a corpse in the trunk of the provided car to a drop-off point. The route will be watched by unmarked police vehicles that will cause a mission failure if you attract attention.


5. Recovery time - retrieve a vehicle from an impound lot by stealthly stealing the key, then driving the vehicle back to the diamond. Even if you are not detected, taking the vehicle out of the lot will give you an automatic wanted level.


6. Department of defense - protect the diamond from attacking thugs, then tail their van to the gang leader. Make sure to stay far away from the van since the line of sight goes through buildings and the detection range is large.


7. Lost in transit - track a stolen van by listening for gunshots, kill the hostiles, retrieve the van and drive it back to the diamond while fending off waves of two attacking kurumas.


8. Severance - go to the mission area, then chase down and kill the chip thief on a bike before he reaches LSIA. The bike cannot be locked on to, and the thief cannot be knocked off the bike. When you retrieve the stolen chips you get an automatic wanted level, which you need to lose, then return the money to the diamond.


9. Best laid plans - prevent a heist in the diamond. First you need to take out one of the heist crew members, steal his keycard, reach the mission area and kill the other heist members. Access the laptop, then travel to the marked locations to finish off the remaining enemies.


10. Judgement call - intimidate a judge with a warning shot or by beating him up with a bat. You are given a suppressed pistol and a baseball bat for this mission. You need to approach the mission area and kill the guards stealthily - detection causes mission failure. You need to intimidate the judge several times and he will attempt to flee in a vehicle. This can be avoided to finish the mission quickly, but if he reaches the vehicle, you will need to chase him while being attacked by waves of two kurumas. You need to cripple the wheels of the judge's getaway car and then intimidate him. Killing the judge causes mission failure.


11. High rollin' - drive a limo with a VIP to the diamond. Driving faster than 40 MPH will decrease the GTA$ reward of the mission.


12. Fake newsв - locate a news rump van in one of five marked locations. Once you find the van, tail it to the next location where a reported will get out. Knock out or kill the reporter, retrieve their wallet and leave the mission area.


13. One armed banditв - go to the docks and identify the objective container based on a code, which is being guarded by opponents. Deliver the container to the diamond using the skylift.


14. Damage controlв - drive a mule back to the diamond within the allotted time. Triggers randomly when the player blacks out from macbeth shots at the casino bar.

Gambling

Gambling options in the GTA online casino may not be available in your region. Certain regions will display a "this feature is not available for you" message when attempting to play a gambling mini-game. Some regions still allow the purchase of chips, so make sure to try using the complimentary chips first! Check our list of restricted countries below.

Of course, chances are you'll be spending most of your time in the diamond at the tables. Gambling options are somewhat limited and you can only play against the house. The penthouse acts as a property and spawn point and can be customized extensively. You can add modules to your penthouse as well, such as the personal spa with a stylist - this allows for character customization - or a partying area - this adds interactive objects to your penthouse which can be used to fool around with when you invite other players up. There are several differences between the variations based on what modules they are supplied with. We strongly suggest buying theв design your own penthouse, but we'll give you a rundown on the other options as well.

The cash pad is the "basic" penthouse which contains no additional modules at all. The cash pad also doesn't allow for later expansion via modules, unless you "renovate" it to become the design your own variant. That means no garage, no spa, no party hub or any other module. You can, however, purchase artworks to decorate the penthouse with and can access customization options.

The party penthouse comes with the stock penthouse area, as well as the lounge, party hub, spa and extra bedroom. You cannot add other modules or remove these from your penthouse.

The high roller penthouse contains all of the available modules but is locked to the most expensive pattern and color options with no way to change them. If you're just going to buy every module and the most expensive options, this is an easy one-click way to do so. It's important to note that this module is not available in regions where the gambling features aren't either.

The design your own penthouse is the same as the cash pad in so far as it contains no modules. It does, however, give you the opportunity to purchase modules one by one, letting you customize what functionality your penthouse possesses. We don't really know why the cash pad even exists, since the two cost the same amount and the cash pad doesn't let you customize it later on, but there you have it.

Playing cards

A new set of hidden collectibles were added to GTA online with this update. 54 vintage playing cards have been scattered across the game map in hard to find locations. Finding the cards will earn youв RPВ andв chips to be used at the casino.

Finding all 54 will unlock an exclusiveв high roller outfit and a special set of playing cards to be used by your dealer at the diamond. You can also put the rare vintage cards on display in your penthouse as a trophy celebrating your achievement!

These playing cards also reward you with chips. Finding the first five will grant you 100 chips each, totalling at 500. From the fifth onward, each card will grant an additional 50 chips compared to the previous. This means the 6th card gives 150 chips, the 7th gives 200, the 8th gives 250 and so on all the way to the 54th card, which will reward you with a bonus of 2,550 chips. The total number of chips gained from cards is 66,650, worth the same amount in GTA$.
